Amaliapolis is family-friendly seaside village situated on a large bay in the Pagasitic Gulf on the east coast of Greece, 53km south of the lively university city of Volos from where Jason and the Argonauts set sail. The village has everything you could want for a simple holiday but its location, roughly midway between Athens and Thessaloniki, makes it well situated for exploring mainland Greece, including the monasteries of Meteora, classical Delphi, and other archaeological sites in Magnesia and beyond, as well as the Pelion peninsula.

Travel
A car is recommended so that you can make the best of this beautiful region.

However there are good long distance bus links from Athens and Thessaloniki to nearby Almyros and we can also arrange for the local taxi driver to meet flights (at extra cost) so a car is not absolutely essential. As both the beach and village centre are within walking distance of the villa you don't need a car on a daily basis if you just want to relax.

As well as flying to either Athens or Thessaloniki, from mid May to mid October there are limited charter flights to Anchialos (Volos) airport 20km away. You can also get charters to Skiathos and then use the ferry/flying Dolphin to Volos.

Disabled Access: Restricted. We are able to offer restricted facilities for disabled and/or wheelchair access. This apartment is on the ground floor and there is only one step to the front door. There are however no other special facilities available for disabled visitors.
Child Friendly: Yes. Our facilities are child friendly. Children must at all times be supervised by an adult when on balconies.
Pets Allowed: Restricted. Some pets can be accommodated. Please contact us regarding pets.

Activities
Lovely clean sea for swimming and snorkeling. You can also fish from the village jetty. Public tennis courts in Almyros (20 mins drive). Nice walks through the olive groves or along quiet country roads.
 
Further Details
In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by.

As well as the village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos from the nearby village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos. The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.
