A self-contained house with garden and parking on the edge of a typical Italian hill village in the Tuscan Appenines, largely undiscovered by British tourists. Newly decorated with a living-room extension to take advantage of beautiful views. Walking from the house, skiing nearby.

There is a bus service but a small car is recommended. Rail stations Pitoia (15 miles) or Lucca (20 miles).

Disabled Access	:	Restricted. We are able to offer restricted facilities for disabled and/or wheelchair access. There is a downstairs bedroom and shower-room, but two steps to be negotiated outside.
Child Friendly	:	Yes. Our facilities are child friendly. The garden is enclosed but steps and a drop from the patio mean toddlers need supervision.
Pets Allowed	:	Restricted. Some pets can be accommodated. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the understanding that tenants are responsible for any damage.

Activities

All year round there are beautiful mountain walks or cycle rides in the chestnut woods surrounding the village or in the pine forests higher up.
Or you can visit other hill towns nearby, each with its own special character and festivals. Our favourite is Cutigliano with its excellent restaurants, swimming pool and year-round cable car to Croce Arcana from which there is a 12 mile ridge walk.
For day trips Pistoia and Lucca are both about 40 minutes away and Florence about 70 minutes. A day by the sea or in Sienna and southern Tuscany are also possible if you are prepared to drive for around two hours.

Skiing

In winter there is excellent downhill skiing in Abetone (which usually has snow from Christmas until Easter) and also cross-country skiing in the surrounding countryside.

Further Details

Piteglio has a Bancomat, Post office, ‘Alimentari’ (general food store), Tabac and ‘generi vari’, a good family-run restaurant and two other bars.
In San Marcello, the nearby small town, there is an excellent Co-op supermarket and all kinds of other shops.
There are more good, reasonably priced restaurants within 5-20 minutes drive.
Piteglio is quiet for most of the year, but comes to life in August when outdoor entertainments such as concerts, dancing, food and craft stalls are put on by the village ‘cultural association’ for the local people and the tourists, who are almost all Italian, plus a few Dutch.

Normally, £100 deposit is required on booking and the balance a month before the start of rental.

Additional notes on pricing

Normal weekly rates apply to parties of up to four adults and four children. Supplements will be payable for parties with more than four adults. Discounts for small groups and long lets can be negotiated outside high season or for last-minute lets.
