Chalet “Les Clarines” is a spacious, pretty, traditional alpine chalet offering excellent self-catering accommodation in a beautiful village environment.
It is only thirty-five minutes drive from Geneva airport and is in fabulous location for holidays at any time of year. Whether it be for picturesque winter skiing or wonderful summer breaks for families or groups of friends, there are a wide range of activities available in the area throughout the year.
Although the valley in which Onnion is situated is easily accessible it remains unspoiled. It is less well known to the English compared to neighbouring villages such as Les Gets and Morzine and is a hidden gem. The village is nestled at the foot of the "Pointe des Brasses" and enjoys the most idyllic views of the Mont Blanc and the surrounding Alps.
The Chalet sleeps up to ten people, is set out over three floors, is fully equipped and has electric heating as well as a cosy log burning fire in the lounge.

Travel
We recommend that you hire a car. Having your own transport allows you to explore the area with freedom and in winter to choose the ski stations and conditions that best suit your needs. Living RoomsThe entrance corridor leads into the spacious lounge and dining area. In the lounge there is ample comfortable seating and as well as a log burning fire there is English satellite TV, a portable CD player and DVD player with a good selection of DVDs to watch. The dining table can seat up to ten people comfortably and the cabinet contains a Raclette machine.
From the dining area, doors lead out onto the large balcony where there is outdoor furniture so you can enjoy sitting and eating outside in the sun.
In the kitchen there is a large table with stools, a dishwasher, oven, hob, extractor fan, microwave, toaster, kettle, steamer, food processor, liquidiser, filter coffee machine and handheld vacuum cleaner. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, saucepans and utensils. Tea- towels are supplied.
Other roomsThere is a garage which is ideal for storing skis and bikes and is also used as a laundry room. We request that skis and ski boots are not to be taken into the living areas. A tumble dryer, ironing board, a children’s travel cot and booster seat can be found there if needed.
External facilitiesThe open plan lounge and dining area opens out on to a large balcony with stunning panoramic views of the Alps and the Mont Blanc.
The chalet is surrounded by a large (16000 ft²), beautifully maintained private garden.
Additional informationThere is a very large games room which has two single sofa beds if needed. There is a table tennis table and snooker table as well as a TV and X-Box with a good selection of games for all ages. In addition there are a variety of board games and puzzles plus four tennis rackets available.

Activities
For spring breaks and summer holidays the chalet is perfectly located to provide easy access to an endless number of outdoor activities.
Five minutes walk into the village is a lovely, heater outdoor swimming pool open during the summer season plus tennis courts. Many other activities are available locally including fishing or bathing on the beaches of one of the many lakes, horseriding, climbing, golfing or mini-golf.
Paragliding:
The Chalet is located only 15 minutes drive from the famous Mieussy take-off. You can keep an eye on the take-off from the balcony, with a pair of binoculars you can even check the wind sock! You can also fly from the mountain behind the chalet. Most of the other flying sites are no more than 45 minutes drive away. These include Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Samoens, Flaine and Le Grand Bornand etc. The furthest is Chamonix that is reached by motorway in 1 hour.
Hang-gliding:
Hang-gliders are also very welcome. The chalet has a large garage in which pilots are welcome to store their hang-gliders when not in use. Mieussy offers a good sized landing field at "La Ferme".

Skiing
For winter skiing, the area offers unique skiing opportunities. It is ideal for beginners and children who require the nursery slopes as well as for those more experienced and those who are keen to try challenging off-piste skiing. The chalet is located in Onnion village which is part of Les Brasses ski resort. Access to the ski lift is only a four minute drive away from the chalet. This ski resort has a choice of fourteen runs of all levels, totalling 50 kms. There are three chair-lifts, twelve drag-lifts plus fifty three snow cannons and six high altitude restaurants.
Ski passes, ski hire, ski school and crèche are very reasonably priced. It is ideal for families and children.
However, if you prefer to experience the larger ski resorts in the Alps the chalet is ideally positioned to provide swift access to a number of other ski resorts:
* Sommand - Praz De Lys is fifteen minutes drive
* Le Grand Massif is thirty minutes drive
* Les Portes Du Soleil is thirty-five minutes drive
* Chamonix can be reached in one hour by car.
From our base you will be spoilt for choice.
Close to the chalet are world famous Nordic ski runs which again are only a few minutes drive away. These are ideal for those who enjoy or wish to try Nordic/Cross country skiing or snow Racket walking.
 
Further Details
Onnion is a quiet, friendly, typical alpine village well served by a supermarket, bakery, patisserie, several bars and restaurants, a church and tourist information centre plus a hair-dresser all of which are only a five minute walk from the chalet. In addition the village boasts a heated outdoor swimming pool in the summer season as well as tennis courts. During peak seasons the village organises many excellent festivities to which everyone is welcome.
In the local region are many first class restaurants to suit all budgets. Otherwise for self catering there are many large, well stocked supermarkets found within a five to ten minute drive.

To reserve “the property”, the client should complete and sign the booking form and return it together with payment of the initial non-refundable deposit (20% of the total rent due). The balance of the rent is payable not less than eight weeks before the start of the rental period. A refundable Security Deposit of £250 is payable eight weeks prior to the rental period to cover breakages and cleaning costs.
