This is an old house recently renovated. Situated in a narrow, quiet street which turns into a footpath to Caudies village. Parking about 25 yards away. To get to the shops you walk down to the riverside and up into Lapradelle village with its general store, bar, restaurant etc. Lapradelle is in the Boulzane valley in the Pyrenean foothills, a truly beautiful place. The house lies on higher ground overlooking the river and the village towards the Cathar castle on its peak and the ring of mountains beyond. Sublime. Suitable for first or second honeymooners, lovers of the countryside, France profonde, village life, history, castle-bagging, walking strenuous and otherwise, fauna & flora, bird-watching - or just doing nothing much!
The little tourist train 'Papillon' runs from Axat towards Rivesaltes via Lapradelle - a lovely day out.

A car is essential. Nearest rail links, autoroutes and airports are at Carcassonne or Perpignan. Otherwise, Toulouse or Girona airports.

The Viaduc restaurant in Lapradelle serves good 'ordinary' fare. The Grand Duc 3 miles away is a high-class restaurant. There is a bar in Lapradelle. Wonderful walking country surrounds you. You can see so many places from Lapradelle - Carcassonne, Perpignan, Foix, Ax-les-Thermes., Andorra... Very dramatic countryside all round. There is an international water-sports facility at Axat which you can join. Ski slopes at Mijanes 20 miles away, and further up the Aude valley towards Font Romeu. The nearest supermarkets are at Quillan or St. Paul de Fenouillet 11 miles away. Worth reading about Cathar history before you go - it makes sense of the castles and fortifications which greet you at every turn - eg 'The Perfect Heresy' by O'Shea.

Change-over is generally on a Saturday, but we can be flexible off-season. Arrive after 16.00 hrs., and leave by 10.00 hrs. A supplement of £15 is charged for single-week bookings. Electricity is free during the warmer months. Special arrangements will be negotiated off-season.

Booking Notes
The deposit is payable on confirmation of the booking. The balance is payable at least 6 weeks before your stay. We do not ask for a damage deposit, trusting you to look after the place. Keys are sent to you in advance. You return them to us when you get back home.

Additional notes on pricing
Prices are for the use of the house - not per person. The price for any week is determined by reference to the month in which its first Saturday falls. Thus a week beginning on Saturday May 30th will be charged at May rates. There may be discounts for longer lets. Single-week bookings attract an extra charge of £15. Special arrangements will be made to cover electricity costs off-season.
