Floure Lovely house with gardens near the river Aude. Approached by a country lane and looking out towards vineyards, the Corbieres hills and the river Aude, Chez Magali has proved very popular since it was recently renovated to very high standards. Sleeps 6+cot in 2 twin bedrooms and 1 double (with en suite)
Chez Magali is on the edge of the commune of Floure in the Minervois. The Chateau de Floure has a top-class restaurant and lovely grounds. The house is one end of a long building the other end of which may be let, but it faces away from Chez Magali, so ensuring your privacy. It is good for security, however, in a rural setting. Windows look out onto vineyards or towards the Corbieres hills to the south. Your daily shops are in Trebes 2 miles away. Otherwise, Carcassonne offers a full range of cultural, sporting and recreational facilities. Access is easy by road or by air. The local cuisine and wines are of high quality. There are really good local markets and vide-greniers in the area. You can take cruises on the Canal du Midi at Trebes, or hire your own boat for the day - sublime!

Activities
We believe that, as a short-stay tourist, you do not need a permit to fish, but check this at the sports shop in Trebes. If you are allowed to fish, there are many fishing 'bays' along the river only a few yards from the house. They are secluded, almost invisible! The Aude is a 'second-class river' - the first-class are more in the hills.
Golf
There is a lovely golf course at Carcassonne (see its website) looking towards the Pyrenees. We can arrange an introduction. There is a good restaurant attached to the course. There are many other golf courses in the area.
Further Details
The shops and supermarkets, banks, post office, internet cafe etc. are in Trebes 2 miles away. There are good restaurants in Trebes and, of course, in Carcassonne. Cruise boats sail from Trebes for trips along the Canal du Midi, or you can hire your own boat from other locations. Carcassonne is a lively, historic city with theatres, cinemas, sports grounds etc., and a lovely golf course looking towards the Pyrenees (an introduction can be arranged). The Corbieres hills are wild and scarcely populated but well worth exploring. This area saw the destruction of the Cathar communities in the 13th. century, and ruins of their castles abound. Carcassonne is the largest fortified medieval city in Europe and is a 'must' for all visitors. The old city looks over the river. Its battlements, turrets, moat and ancient buildings are impressive. It has many interesting, unusual shops and small museums. It also boasts some really good restaurants. Go to a show in the open-air theatre if you can. The 'new' town lies below the old, and has many modern shops and stores, the cathedral and recreational facilities. There are international water sports further up the Aude at Axat and elsewhere. Horse-riding opportunities also exist locally. We can provide expert advice on house-hunting through a good friend in the business, without commitment on either side. There are impresive caves in the Montagne Noire.
