From the house you can walk up the lane into the countryside or down and across the village, there are many signed country walks and a large panel opposite the church has a map showing some recommended routes to follow, either on foot or bicycle (local bike hire can be arranged).
The area is steeped in history from the Chateau de Montreal (guided visits throughout July and August), to the lovely village church in the centre of the village, the old stone buildings and the tucked away ancient lavoir (wash house) down by the river, to the old abbey and church at Sourzac and the hidden alleys of the nearby town of Mussidan (follow the signed town trail).
Further afield are the historic and pre-historic siotes of the Perigord Noir, along the Dorodgne valley following the river with it's spectacular scenery and fairy tale chateaux.
To the south lies medieval Bergerac surrounde by it's vineyards amoungs which is the Chateau the Monbazillac and it's famous sweet white dessert wine. To the north is Riberac and Brantome and going west towards Bordeaux you enter the Girond and Saint Emillion which hosts the strong full bodied Bordeaux red wine.
