The small cottage is a fully restored barn with modern amenities, but retaining original features in keeping with the structure of Perigordian buildings. It is privately situated down a rural lane with no through traffic in tranquil surroundings, and yet centrally placed in reach of all the main attractions of the Dordogne.
The area is rural with much woodland interspersed with traditional farms specialising in walnut groves, maize, sunflowers, tobacco and a few vines. The region is renowned for Limousine cattle, geese and ducks also being reared.

Further Details
This beautiful area takes its name from the dense hilly woodlands of oak, chestnut, pine and juniper, and is dissected by the dramatic rivers Dordogne and Vezere.
It is a region steeped in history going back some 50,000 years, and in the Vezere valley are some of the most ancient relics of human existence. There are numerous sites to visit; the nearest approximately 5km away at Cap Blanc, has interesting sculpture. At Roque – St Christophe is a dramatic troglodyte village and at Montignac are the world-renowned Lascaux cave paintings. There are formations of underground lakes and crystallised rocks at Promeyssac.
The region has so many picturesque towns and villages it is hard to single out any one, but our favourites are Beynac village, the bastide town of Domme , Limeuil at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vezere, and the square and arcades of Monpazier. Of course medieval Sarlat only 10km away is perhaps the most well known market town in the Dordogne and is magnificent .
Most towns hold their own markets at least weekly, and local produce and crafts are in abundance. The local fresh fruit, vegetables and wines are a must, as are the local specialities foie gras and the truffle for those of a more adventurous nature. Our village Marquay has a market during the summer months.
Again there are so many chateaux in the area that you only travel a few km between them. Most of the larger ones are open to visitors and they all offer something unique. For garden lovers we recommend Erignac, but there are plenty of others all with their own delights.
Those with a sporting inclination are well catered for, canoeing on the rivers, designated trails or the network of lanes for walking, cycling and riding , and swimming and fishing in the pools and lakes.
